Thinking about replacing my Acer 17" TFT with a 20-22" widescreen and quite fancy the look of the LG M208WA.

Can't find any reviews though so just wondering what people's opinions were on the brand and ideally this monitor.

Or any other suggestions? 20" is really the ideal depending on the design of the monitor as that's just about the maximum space the opening on the desk has, roughly 50cm.

I looked at LG myself Dod and couldn't find a thing wrong with them at all. I ultimately went with a Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP because it was on offer and have to say, its awesome. So good in fact that i recently bought a Dell SP1908FP as monitor 2 - didn't look outside of Dell as an option.

Linky if you're interested - a bit of a price drop i notice ;)

Dell normally use LG-Phillips or Samsung panels and rebadge them, so you are likely using an LG now lol

FWIW I would buy a Dell or an Apple Cine display

Samsung was the other brand I was looking at, really like the look of that SM2032MW.

Reviews on the Dell look pretty good Johnnyreb, thanks

Well - you learn something new everyday. And half my business is in the semi-conductor industry as well :)

Why would you then promote Dell over the others, Ross - something additional in the panel packaging?

Warranty to be honest mate, plus I aesthetically speaking I like the stands. The Dell warranties are excellent though

Brand wise you've nothing to fear from either LG or samsung I have a smasung 930bf for about 18 months which is crystal clear and looks fab. LG are also a very good brand and I would class them a big player in the hardware market.

Not too sure about LG's warrenty but I remember the samsung being very good. Surprised you can find any reviews, have you tried hexus? as if they've not got a review get the forums there and someone will tell you the pros and cons.

Hi Dod
my CRT went bang recently
replaced it with a Sansung syncmaster 226bw. love it.
22" widescreen £220 from pcworld.
order over the web for collection, it's cheaper than the shop price:thinking:

Dod - you sure you can get a 22inch widescreen in your desk? A 20 inch is pretty close to 50cm wide........

They're both pretty new I think, that's probably why I can't find any. Never thought of Hexus, I'll give them a look, if I can remember my account details :)

I had a dual-monitor setup with two 17" LGs that I'd had for about 6-7 years. Only when I moved house did one of them develop a green line of pixels down it, so I'm fairly pleased with that and would definitely buy again.
I've now got a Dell 22" Widescreen for photo work which is really good, although I do miss having the second monitor. Acer ones are cheap, but panels tend not to be so good. Samsung produce nice panels, so if you can stretch to it you'll probably be faiely happy with one of them.

Missed that Jonny, I can but it's a bit awkward. Here's my desk, it's one of those corner things. A 22" will go in but it needs to go back a bit, 20" is better :) Oh, and just noticed it's an Asus I've got, not acer, it's okay but just feel the need for more working space :embarrassed:

And if you think the desk's untidy, we're doing up the house right now, right behind me is this :p

LG-Philips make the Apple screens...and a few other people's too...

I have an LG screen that i plug into the laptop which is calibrated, no complaints from me, and seems to accurately edit photo's.

I run a 20.1" LG Flatron L2000CE and am very happy with it on all counts, pics, vids, games etc

Good choice :)

I have used an LG screen for a number of years and its very good
