viewing RAW files

ok i am running windows xp on a netbook and would like to be able to view the RAW files from the 40d and 450d on it without installing lightroom / photoshop.

now the micosoft raw viewer which does everything i want it to wont work with the 40d so i am asking for your recommendations on free Raw viewers that will run easily on a netbook.

Or what's wrong with ZoomBrowser you have that on your canon disk

irfanview opens my 20D files, should prob open 40D files too i guess?

Another vote for Picasa, it's a great application for browsing your RAW files.

i use the canon raw codec for windows picture viewer,works fine for me viewing raw on win7,(maybe that's what you're having probs with though?)

No picasa runs locally so you don't need to upload but it does offer that as an option.

You could also try UFRaw http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/.

its a great prog. yes the features are fairly thin on the ground, but for sinple browsing, sorting, cropping, etc its amazing

If you just want to see thumbnails in windows explorer then I find FastPictureViewer great. It was suggested on here some time ago. Not great for actually opening the raw files imo.

the simple answer is the net book doesn't have a cd drive and im not 100% sure where the disks are.
