Just out walking and taking some shots and noticed that actual shot is blurred but when looking through viewfinder it's pin sharp. Have tested in manual and auto focus and no different. Shutter speed is high at around 600-1000 so have eliminated motion blur. Camera is 5dkiii and lens is 24-105. Any ideas anyone???

Have you prehaps tried micro adjusting the lens on the camera?

i did but then i thought micro adjust would not affect manual focus which still shows sharp but results are blurry. Only thing i can think of is how do you calibrate viewfinder too results (that may sound ridiculously stupid and laughable so forgive my lack of knowledge)! The reason i thought of that is because i wear glasses and did not know if it had a bearing?

Yes it has IS, have disabled it and also tried my 100 L lens. It's slightly better but then it is a sharper lens. There is still a significant difference between viewfinder and actual picture though. Using live view gives a more accurate result of the finished article.

Do you have a sample you can show us?

Could be viewfinder diopter adjustment is out?

Will do Richard, out for the evening now but will get a sample and post tomorrow! Thanks for all your comments

Guessing it's to do with the size of the viewfinder, bit like looking through pinholes sharpens things up. Daresay there is an optical explanation for it and along the same lines of how the image always looks better on the LCD than it does on a monitor.

To prove the theory, does it look good through the viewfinder, not quite as good on the LCD and worse on a monitor.

The 100mm would look better because it's a sharper lens, but don't think its a defect or a micro adjust focus problem.

One of my eyes is weaker than the other and I have to make sure I use the better eye to check my photos otherwise they can look less sharp than I expected even with glasses on. Make sure the viewfinder diopter is adjusted properly, turn the little wheel until the focus points appear at their sharpest.

I had a similar problem when manual focusing, it turned out I was using the wrong glasses, I was using my computer pair when I should have been using my reading pair to look through the viewfinder/at the rear screen.

It looks much sharper through the viewfinder but similar on the LCD and iMac. I get your point though ref smaller view of viewfinder sharpening it up.

Thanks both for you replys
