hi guys :help:,

i have looked through the manual and tried to do a search but to no avail.

yesterday whilst shooting in auto mode on my nikon d40, sometimes the camera would not take the picture and the bottom right hand corner of the viewfinder there was a code. Most of the time it was ''r02'' and once or twice i also saw ''r01''

i dont know what these mean and couldnt shoot until i moved or re-zoomed.

any help would be much appreciated

cheers

Its telling you you have space for two shots in the buffer.

any help would be much appreciated

Big white papery thing in the box. Begins with M... :)

Many thanks guys, i shall be doing some bed time reading tonight, failing that, what does it mean by two shots in the buffer?

[rXX](xx being a number) in the bottom right of the view finder is normally shots remaining in the cameras buffer. (I would assume its the same with the D40 but thats what it is on my D200 and D50)

so why wont it let me take a picture, is it because the camera has to clear the buffer first?

basically yes, theres no room to store it because its writing to the mem card at max speed

if you have a fast card, Sandisk Extreme III, it wil keep up and just keep taking pictures. but with cheaper cards you have to wait
