View Canon RAW thumbnails in Vista :)

I found this today. It's a Canon Codec plug-in that enables you to view thumbnails of Canon Raw image files (.CR2) on Windows Vista :)

It supports all Canon cameras from the 350D to the IDMkIII.

Free to download from HERE

Unfortunately it doesn't work on XP though :shake:
 
I can do that on my XP or I should say I can since I tried lightroom.. what I can't do that I really want is view RAF files... arrgh.

D'ya know what, as soon as I found that download I though of you! I was just about to PM you when I realised it won't work on XP :( Tell you what, send me all your RAW files, I'll look at the thumbnails for you and tell you what they look like :lol:

got that but you cant view RAW with it if taken with a 30d or 400d !

DOH! Doesn't work with Vista 64 bit either :(
 
Yup, 300D (which I have) and 400D dump .CRW files ? No Codec yet for Vista... :(

The codec linked is specifically for Vista but not the 64 bit edition. If you have Vista 32 bit it works perfectly :)

But it's not for the 300D :(. I had to install RSE to view RAW files on my Vista Box.
 
I see what you mean, sorry, I thought Puz meant there wasn't a codec for Vista yet, not that there wasn't one for a 300D for Vista :bonk:

I just use this http://www.faststone.org/

It's a free image browser and it viewed RAWS from both my 350D and now my 30D no problems. Browse through thumbnails or even a lesser quality quick full size image then press 'E' (configured to launch photo software of your choice) to edit it.

Works great and it's free!
