I've looked around the internet for videos of photographers shooting models, but haven't had much luck. Most are tiny clips, or five minutes of talking with the model while she's getting makeup, or a slideshow of images from the shoot. I've found a couple on www.vogue.tv, YouTube, and some other random sites, but mostly it's not helpful.

When I'm doing shoots (primarily because of inexperience most likely), it doesn't feel fluid, and there are awkward pauses or times when I have a very difficult time directing the model. Simply seeing some videos of professionals actual interaction with models would help me immensely.

If you know of any good videos online or even instructional videos that cost (Jason Cole's stuff?) that do a great job demonstrating how pros work, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

have a look at www.filmphoto.co.uk
they are based in Cheltenham and Simon Wladen from there has done some guides on CD and DVD. i have the CD posing guide but not the DVD but have heard good things about it

Thanks scubataff, I'll check it out!

Sounds bad but I think you really need to work on your own style, building your own confidence, this then rubs off on the models and creates an air of ease. I started just snapping friends, just having a giggle. This soon builds your confidence and gives you the smooth motion of a shoot..."yeah right there is no such things". Shoots are ad hoc they are never perfect. But happy snapping

Just do a search on youtube for "photography" or "photographer", "strobist" and so on, I've seen loads and loads of good videos on there. Try a search with some well known photographers names too. Theres a company, I think, called sunbounce, who make reflectors and the like, they have some good promo videos of top 'togs using their products on their site, which are also very good instructional videos of how to go about doing a shoot.

Zack Arias does quite a bit of that in his OneLight DVD Much of it is on location. The DVD follows him through 5 or 6 shoots. I really enjoyed it.
