Hi, I am shooting video and would like to here from experienced videographers what settings to use when filming fast moving Jets in the outdoors. I have just returned from a shoot on the Mach loop, and found the fast pan's required left a lot to be desired.
I shot in 50i with focus on infinity, this occurs above 70 meters on my Sony Ax 2000. I left the exposure on auto as the pan included vastly changing light levels. Would 25p or perhaps an increase of shutter speed help. I will post the video as soon as compleated.

There's a reason you never see fast pans on TV or at the cinema.

50i gives better motion portrayal than 25p. It's usual to shoot with a shutter speed of 1/2 the framerate. Faster and the image judders, slower and you get motion blur. The maximum pan rate you can handle without blurring is not many pixels per frame - it's something like 7.5 degrees per second for a 50mm equivalent lens.
