Hi. Can you recommend a video card thats the best bang for buck. I am editing full hd 50p avchd files in the main including some multi can edits. My current card is a gt530 which is terrible and I get a lot of stuttering while scrubbing and multi can editing. My PC is an i7 with16GB RAM and a 1 TB HDD. The card I am looking at is the GTX660. Obviously there are better cards out there but imnot interested in gaming so if this card was suited to editing then great. Any advice on what card to get? Ideally I'm looking for something <€200 if possible. Thanks for your help.

What software are you using. You need to use GPU accelerated s/w to get any real speed advantage....

I'm more interested in smooth playback during editing than actual export rendering if that makes any difference?

Probably better asking on an Adobe forum TBH....

a good read that's for sure . looks like upgrading monitor to 10bit will cost me more than just the monitor itself ! :O

I have nothing but praise for NVidia Quadro's! For reliability, compatibility and performance I would always recommend them!

Your problem is probably more to do with editing with a camera codec rather than graphics card.

AVCHD is designed to highly compress video for small file size.

It uses lots of computationally intensive settings. Converting to a proper edit codec like DNxHD or ProRes would reduce the load and make scrubbing easier.
