Just now caught (again) a bit of TG on Dave....


This one was the Veyron v the McLaren F1 in Abu Dhabi.........


Simple question - money no object which one would you pick..... (and if you want to comment, and why?)
 
McLaren F1. Purely as Jordan has bought a Veyron and is getting it pinked at Khan's, so it's completely ruined the Veyron for me.
 
McLaren F1, Veyron is ugly.
Mind you I'd rather have a MkIV Ford GT40.

I always grew up wanting one!

Although I might be tempted by a F40 if I had the money! :lol:

It would have been the McLaren for me anyhow. But knowing Jordan has got a Veyron just confirms the choice that bit further.
 
The McLaren every time, by a mile. The perfect car.

The F1 is one of the most beautiful cars ever designed, the Veyron on the other hand is a technical tour de force but it's been battered to death with the ugly stick.

Also, how long did it take Volkswagen to sort this out, it was so many years late it was untrue.

From a performance point of view, the McLaren is in a different league, it handles better and when it set the speed record for a production car, you just got in it and put your foot down.

In the Veyron, you have to switch all the computers over, lock the rear spoiler down and god knows what else.

Just my opinion, but to me there is no comparison.

all fair points in all honesty... and if the rumours are true that Jordan has one..... hmmmm... yes the F1 any time.........

People use car analogies all the time to describe cameras, but I'll use a camera analogy to describe cars this time: it's a bit like comparing a Leica M9 to a 1DX/D4. :p

For me it has to be the McLaren, especially in the LM guise as shown below

the thing is, with the Veyron, yes it pushed way beyond the boundaries of automotive engineering,
yes it packs 1000bhp,
yes it has more radiators than my house,
yes it is full of high end tech,
does it make it the best car....................in my mind no!

And as others have said, the designer should have gone to specsavers :D

Is there a neither option ... the McLaren is dated, and the Veyron just plain ugly.

Anyway at my age I want something comfy that is easy to get in and out of :D
 
ok Jordans ordered one in pink? but with a bit of luck she will put it through the first wall she comes across. going against the grain here but it would be the veyron for me.
 
From the TG ep the Mclaren F1 but if there was another option then I'd go for the new Mclaren MP4-12C. It's yummy! :lol:
 
Neither of these appeal to me at all. I'd rather have an Aston Martin. Different type of car, but stunning looks and all the performance I could ever wish for!
 
Ah,that Jordan......I was wondering why Eddie would want a pink Veyron :bonk:


If money were no object I'd have both,can't be expected to drive to Aldi/Lidl in the same car evey week :suspect: :nuts:
 
Mclaren F1 all day long for me. The Veyron has performance, but the Mclaren has performance and styling. :)

Ah the Aston Martin, yep I'd definitely have to agree with you there. Beautiful car and if it's good enough for 007 then it's good enough for me! :lol:
 
To choose between these two cars, is like walking into a building, where there is a high speed lift and a paternoster, both will get you to the next floor, but it's whether you have smile on your face when you reach your floor, I know which one would do that, the paternoster :)
I digress, if it were my money, I would choose the McLaren, the whole point of supercars is that they put a big smile on your face and make you feel like 5 years old again, if it doesn't do that, then it has failed.
The Veyron may well be an awesomely quick car, but it's like the high speed lift, you go in and the doors close, that's it, it's all over in a split second.
The McLaren is like the paternoster, you step on, away you go, but you feel like part of the machine and seeing every floor that passes by, with a cheeky grin too :thumbs:
 
I voted for the F1, however I would actually have a DB9 (or better still a DB5!), though I do like the look of the Alfa Romeo 8C Spyder too!

Money no object you say......... i'd have a car built to my spec ,probably end up a bit of a heinz 57 but unique .:D

One simple question. Would you have A or B? Then I think we've got pretty much from C to Z as well. :lol::lol:

I drove one on Forza 4 the other day, thought I could take great delight in smashing it up but could only knock the mirrors off and smash the windscreen. Apart from a few scratches, the rest of it remained intact.
Very disappointed.:thumbsdown:
 
If money was no object, I'd have a Ferrari Enzo - stunning looking car, and would be awesome to hammer around a race track!
 
I think I'd have to plumb for me the Mclaren out of those two. Not Mr Beans one though, he actually snapped it in half when he crashed recently. The engine, gearbox and rear axle were about 150 yards down the road from the rest of it :lol:

If I could have anything, however, I think I'd choose an old mustang :wave:
 
Anything associated with Jordan is wrong so the F1 it is :)

Mclaren f1 in LM guise for me as well.

it was designed by a genius, looks the business and by god did it perform, much more a big racing GT for the road, whereas the veyron is just a big soulless technical project!
