Very slow card/Mac

Hello all , I hope someone can help

I have a Mac M1 mini with a decent card reader but sometimes it can take upto 10 hours to off load my images

I am a wedding photographer and after a wedding I can dump upto 2000 images off the card . Sometimes this can take 5 minutes and randomly other times it takes upto 10 hours .
I would say the problem happens 1 in 5 weddings . The camera is an r6 using a SanDisk sd card but on my 5d4 using a CF card in the same reader is always faultless.

Thanks for that although my reader is a lexar and a fast card . It's very strange as it's 4/5 times very fast . Yesterday's wedding for example I started to put on the Mac this morning ....the first 1000 images came off the card in a matter of minutes and now it's slowed to around 1 file a minute for the remaining 800 or so .
 
Mac minis usually do not have massive ssd's, what are you copying to ?
