Very old lenses

I've just acquired an old lens made by nippon kogaku, tokyo, I imagine this merged with someone to make nikon, it has a model number 135439, its a 135mm f4-11. It was used in some factory for macro stuff I think (down to 2 microns apparently)

Anyway back in the day, maybe 1940's or 50's it cost 10 grand, (I acquired it from the factory owner who bought it, complete with wooden box!) I have no idea what that would be in modern money, it seems in good nick obviously there are no electical connections, I think it pre predates electricity.

Are there any places that have info about old lenses or does anyone know anything about them? Being a canon shooter I think I'll just stick it on the bay and watch it go for a pittance! 10K, it really does demonstrate how fast cutting edge technology depreciates.

It sounds great, probably still fab even if it is old.

Was that article from 1965 too, loving the line ... "You can see very beautiful and mysterious purple coating on the lens." Lol.

yeah, must have been the 60's, not earlier, I think there is a bit of demand for these industrial lenses though

Here's what I would do first. Get hold of a copy of Amateur Photographer magazine, and email all the second hand dealers who advertise in said magazine. They will provide a range of quotes - if you get something reasonable then go for it. Make sure you describe the condition of the lens adequately.

I recently used this method to sell a relatively specialised lens.

I don't think that will apply to this one chief, it was used in the printing industry to focus down to 2 microns (0.002mm), it does have a screw mount though
