As above. I walk miles and miles with a camera bag full of kit, so need something as light as possible and compact as possible, but still reasonably sturdy to hold a Speed Light and PocketWizard.

Have three Speed Lights with PWs, so may be carrying up to three light stands + D300/D7100, 17-55/2.8, 70-300/2.8, sometimes 300/4 and food for the day!

Thanks in advance.

Forgot to say, doesn't need to be 7ft+ anything up to 6ft would be fine.

Don't want to buy a cheap eBay Chinese thing that falls apart in 5 mins, will pay for something decent that will last.

I got the calumet light stand which is decently built and not too bad stable wise.

They do a heavy duty one and a standard light one. The light one is the one I got

Standard answer for small/light is usually Manfrotto Nano, or one of the clones around (Calumet?).

I wouldn't dismiss cheapo Chinese though. I use Konig £10 jobbies a lot, because they're okay stands, with a smallish footprint I'm less likely to trip over (and flip-locks that I prefer) and very light. I have a few http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professiona...F8&qid=1426160777&sr=1-2&keywords=konig+stand Any problems, just buy a new one.

If you treat them as disposable I guess that makes sense but why not just spend an extra £10 now so you don't have to replace them in a couple of years? Ironically the lack of build quality does mean they're quite light.

Thanks for the replies.

What would you recommend?

Thank you.

Also think the double fold type (where the legs fold back on themselves) might be better for me, they should fit in my bag then?

Well I think Richard already gave you the ideal suggestion of a Manfrotto Nano stand as it matches all your stated criteria, if price is a concern and time isn't you can just wait for a good second hand copy but £36 new is not a complete disaster.

If you opt for a standard size stand I'd probably recommend a second hand Elinchrom 88-235 or Bowens BW-6605 but they're all going to be about 30-50% heavier and 50% longer when closed.

gosh that's cheap. +1 for this style of nano stand.

The lightest, but fold up longer than the nanos, for speedlights, the konigs are actually alright - do find something to put on them as a sandbag though, even if it's a log!
