From memory, the Hitachi "Deskstar" was known as the Deathstar in many quarters due to its habit of dying rather prematurely, your call though.
 
They did have a problem at one point but it's ancient history (in computer years!). Every manufacture has QC issues at some point, IBM resolved the issue and there hasn’t been a reoccurrence.

You can find 1TB drives a bit cheaper though, especially Samsung, another good brand.

This will be my fourth, with no problems so far.

Samsung, on same site, is only a couple of pounds more.

Blimey, that is a long memory lol, think drives were still measured in megabytes rather than many gigabytes when they were lol.
