Photographing some venomous snakes tomorrow, so if I'm not back online by the afternoon, assume I've been bitten and killed:lol:

Not sure what species they will be yet. But I'm really hoping for a western diamondback rattle snake, gaboon viper and a spectacled cobra.

first dibs on the 70-200 please :whistling: :D

Good luck

Best of luck, hope it goes well.

Have no immediate plans to photograph them  but am fascinated by them.

Having seen many of the profiles, you wouldn't want a gaboon vipers fangs in your arm! :gag:

Presumably you're doing the shoot abroad?

Mark

^^^ No it's in this country and local to me. You are allowed to keep venomous snakes if you have a DWA licence, pet shop licence or are a zoo.

 Cheers.

I'd at a 500mm lens with me :)

Ah, cheers SM. Had no idea they're allowed in the UK.

A 1200mm lens sounds more like what I'd use :-)

I was thinking more 105mm macro.

Lucky you .

If you don't mind me asking, how you managing to do that? Zoo or private collection.

I've taken pictures of the Gaboon Viper at Chester zoo from behind the glass and a King Cobra at West Midlands Safari Park that belongs to Mark O'Shea again from behind glass.

Will have to show your pictures to my lad when you post them on here, he's an absolute snake nut, took him to a reptile rescue centre who were great and he got to handle a Boa Constrictor, Yellow Anaconda, King snake and a corn snake, he was a very happy 8 year old :)

I don't why I didn't think of this before. It's a reptile shop I goto get my snake food. I knew he kept a private collection of venomous snakes out the back, so I just asked.
