A contact of mine has put me in touch with a top venezualan model /tv star who has recently moved to uk to study. She has seen my work and contacted me to ask if i will photograph her for publicity shots...
I have obviously said yes,, but need a studio in the norwich norfolk area in the next few weeks...

does anyone want to join me and maybe share cost of the studio or does anyone have a studio to use...get in touch.. asap ..pete

Link goes to a wedding photographers / semi-pro's site (As Sutty explains he is, in his first post).

Im sure someone on here may be interested in this. As the model is for free, how is the cost of the studio going to be split? What about the shots...will they have to shoot portfolio shots to give to the model?

Just food for thought :)

I did see this, and did comment in the Welcome Thread Marcel ... and will also apologise if I need to ... just seems odd a 'Top' model would offer herself up for free and then allow others in on a shoot ... :shrug:

Just me being :suspect: ... as usual ... ;)

No need to apologise at all! I know you only have everyone elses interest in mind :), and your intentions are always honourable

I'd like to know what the score is with models. Those wishing to get a portfolio, is it standard to offer themselves for free to photographers in return for a few prints, or is it the norm that they always have to pay for some portfolio shots?

I guess it depends whether the model is starting out and what the photographer's motives are ... if he or she is just starting out as a 'tog then they would jump at the chance of a 'free' model ... but someone still has to pay for the studio etc., :shrug:

But I guess if the model were a top one and also a TV star she might well fund the studio as well ... would seem only right and proper no ... :D

my initial thoughts is that this might be a new type of phishing scam. apologies to pete @ sutty31, if he ain't, but everyone be on your guard. then again, I'm always over cautious and over careful.
 
my first thoughts when i read this where it seemed very odd, a top venueuzelan model AND tv star working for free, sorry but it just does'ent ring true to me, can you imagine any top model working for free, will have to give naomi a call and ask her :lol:
 
ok guys....i appreciate your concern but im genuine and so is the offer....i work for CITB construction and we have a massive college in Bircham in norfolk. Im the semi pro photographer and want to add to my portfolio as all i have at the mo is my mrs on there. I put an ad on our work intranet and this guy replied saying his bird was the model in question... i too thought "wind up"
but he sent me a link to her venez home page and its bloody genuine..she done pop vids etc...go see for ureselves http://www.mariale-arencibia.com/

and as for the two sceptics..yes a apology is in order guys... and i still need a studio to shoot her
 
Fair enough. Apologies to you, sir.

But you can't blame me for being careful in this day and age especially as you're new here. For all we know, you're phishing for a lead, get them to send you money for the studio booking, or meet up and relieve them of their cameras/lenses. We have had posts on here before that is rather similar to yours (short description of problem/request and a link to a website from people with zero or low post count) that turned out to be spam.

You have nothing to be offended about if you're sincere and honest and should understand where I'm coming from. Anyway, good luck finding a studio and someone to share the shoot with.

(As for doing my homework before accusing you, I did. 3 posts - 1 in Newbie section and 2 of the same advert in different forums is not very convincing.)
 
Here's a useful suggestion, if you are a long standing member on another internet forum, if you provide us a link to that forum then that would alleviate any of the suspicion we might have about you.

Whilst I'm sure your offer is genuine, woudn't a top model already have a decent portfolio? I know they need updating but when she's asked "by who"

I really dont think any applogy is in order. Your post looked like Spam, and a free advert so people are bound to be scheptical.. and should still be! everyone has been nice about it and not insulted you so dont start demanding an appology!

C'mon people, give the guy a break. All he has done is extend an invitation to a model shoot (which some people were going to do next month anyway) and whilst I can understand some peoples scepticism because this was one of his first posts but we've got to remember we were all newcomers once..

Just my tuppence worth....

I'd like to see what I was shooting before I made a commitment. Not bothered about turning up to be robbed - I always have Apache air cover nowadays.

A beautiful girl, no doubt of that.
Tbh, I am a little surprised by the lack of model shots there for a professional mlodel, but still had it been more local to me, Id have still been interested for the practice.
 
The older stuff looks better - if she's had collagen implants recently (and it looks like she has from the recent images) then I'm out.
