Hello,

I plan to head to London later this year and hope to stay anywhere between Paddington and Soho, I'll probably try my best to aim for a hotel in the Soho area but Paddington would be a backup.

Would anyone have any suggestions for somewhere to eat in the evening, I'm thinking somewhere casual where there's no need to book (planning on visiting during the week) and it would be nice to try a vegan independent rather than a chain but I'll go with whatever is available.

Thank You,

Jason

As far as I know there's very few vegetarian restaurants in London and even fewer vegan ones. I know theres a vegan restaurant in Moorgate and a vegetarian Italian in Soho (called La Polentaria IIRC) but I've never eaten in either. I imagine you're more likely to find the odd one a bit of a trek out of the centre.

There's an Indian restaurant in the back streets and Euston, I can't remember if it's full vegan or just vegetarian. Quite unassuming, but really good. Looking online it might be Diwana Bhel Poori, www.diwanabph.com

Can't suggest any myself but there are quite a few listed online. Mildred's (while a small chain - there are three of them - Soho, King's Cross and Canden) seems well liked.

Nah, it's not the 90s any more ;)

If you can bear the walk to Oxford Street I would highly recommend Vitao - http://vitao.co.uk/visit-us/ There's another on TCR but I've never been http://vantra.co.uk/ at lunchtime they are drop in fill a plate and weigh it sort of places gets a bit more complicated at night.

Itadaki-Zen gets good reviews though I've not tried it. SaladPride in Neal's Yard.

Then there's Govindas where they have veggie food but understand what vegan food is. Mildreds have been going for years. If you want to push the boat out there's the Gate or Vanilla Black.

And somewhere near TCR there's an amazing vegan eat all you can Chinese with another branch a few doors away - trying to remember the name.....

Ah, looks like it was Jai and it has closed down :(

If you're anywhere near Kings Cross then make sure you pop into Vx - great shop and probably the best brownies you will find.

Vanilla Black is excellent. My wife is veggie and we used to eat there all the time before we had kids.

That's the one I was going to suggest. Brilliant place.

And just up the road from Calumet..

(which confirms to me it's definitely the place I thought it was - I remember walking past their door on the way there)
