I am thinking of buying from Maxsaver on Ebay. I have never bought from a Hong Kong supplier before.

The spend could be as much as £165 on three filters :cuckoo: but I am confident that these are not fakes.

What are the chances of having to pay Vat and Duty?, would it be better to buy them separately or as one purchase?.

You really should pay VAT and duty.

The £165 would attract 15% - so thats about £24 that should go towards road building, schools or hospital beds.

As an importer, you are legally obliged to pay this.

The only way you would not pay this if the customs forms were marked incorrectly.

I wouldn't mind if it went towards the dualling of the Al single carriageway :)

Its over the threshold for duty and vat, so expect to pay. There will probably be a handling fee as well.

If for some reason it slips through the net, then thats OK.

So it could be £24 vat then there is duty and a handling fee.

Mmmmm:thinking:

on top of duty and taxes etc, there's a charge made by the courier for collecting the money. For royal mail, this is £8, but significantly more for UPS etc...

Been faffing on for a while now looking for decent filters, I might just throw caution to the wind continue "going naked" :D

Which means it'd be a lot cheaper doing it as one package - otherwise ParcelFarce will charge you multiple times.

I recently received a Far East item of £40 value. Thanks to PF that increased by another £21. Same item could have been UK bought for £52!
