Hi

Shooting yesterday at Brands Hatch, I realised that in order to keep the aperture as wide as possible, I would have needed a ND filter. I think at worse case, shooting at around 1/160 with ISO 100, it would have overexposed by a couple of stops at widest aperture. So having to leave it in shutter priority, the aperture was around f11 or more. Is there a reasonably priced variable ND available? I looked at the Tiffin but at over £100 it's well out of my price range. Or should I just buy a couple of fixed ND's?

Saw these on Amazon:

Thanks

Because the lens is sharper at f6.3 to f8. But I can't use that as the photos will be overexposed. Also when shooting through fences, wider apertures help blur the fences.

I wouldn't worry about sharpness tbh. Technique will be the biggest factor. Adding a cheapo ND filter will more than likely degrade the image anyway. As for shooting through fences, yes this is true. But F8 won't blur it much anyway. Getting as close to the fence as possible, avoiding the damn things altogether or using a longer lens will all help. Also, a slower shutter speed will help too.

Thanks for the honest advice. I think camera shake is a big problem for me, so I'll probably try a monopod to help.
