And you wondered why I made the comment about you coming across as a very nervous driver. I can honestly say that I don't care. I will look where it landed when safe to do so.

Heck with an excellent cigarette there is no problem anyway. And even when I smoked I dropped a real cigarette once, just pull over when you can and get rid of it. Really not that hard, so no not Anyone would do that.

I also glance in my rear view mirror and side mirrors and over my should in the dead spots. It really is OK to do so. No need to be like a Dutch milkmaid and state forwards only.

Are you truly trying to tell us that you never take your eyes off the road for any reason whatsoever?

And I'm still wondering, because nothing I have said is anything remotely to do with being nervous behind the wheel, other than the act of needing to eat, drink or smoke, of which I don't.

It is a human trait to instantly look to see where you have dropped something. Whether it registers you have looked is another matter.

All of which are a part of driving and for the most part you don't even need to move your head to do so. Your peripheral vision will take care of most of that.

Stop persecuting two armed drivers it's the one armed ones doing all this on the road that are bloody dangerous!

I'm willing to bet not as often. I'm not doing anything in the car, other than driving, the only distraction from that will be an unexpected distraction, a noise, or something out of the norm, that I have seen out of the corner of my eye.

Some of us do, I am almost blind in my right eye, but still allowed to drive as it has been that way for a very long time now and as such have been told by qualified people
it does not effect my driving ability in any way.
Peripheral vision in that eye is almost zero, so I have to look away to check traffic and yet \I am still allowed to drive for a living

Not really as there's not much else to look at, other than the area in my immediate vicinity and as far as I can see ahead to anticipate what the muppets in front are about to do. (y)

Looks like it effects your driving in someway to me. Unless you have extra mirrors to make up for the approx. 25% of your field of vision where you are virtually blind, it can't not have some sort of impact.

No one mentioned staring straight ahead. Ingrid obviously has to turn her head more to see to her right. Unless she has mirrors set up for a lot of what can be happening on her right hand side, she won't be able to see which would be in the normal peripheral vision of the right eye. For instance, I can see out of the right rear passenger window, just by glancing to my right. At some junctions I'd imagine she would not only have to move her head round further to the right, but also shift her position in her seat. So as I pointed out it will have some impact on her driving than if she had full use of her right eye.

Which just goes to show how little you know about driving outside of your own personal tin bubble with all mod cons that does it all for you.

Come on then, enlighten me how your body compensates for things which are outside of your field of vision on your right. Your left eye can't increase it's field of vision, you can only turn your head so far, so without extra mirrors you can't fully compensate for the loss of your peripheral field of vision. Hence there will be some impact on your abilities and how you drive.

It helped me quit!

It helped me switch, get my nicotine shot, and then I thought exactly why bother? As such I love it. Don't get those 'huge battery robotic attachments' that some seem to have, nor the chemistry lesson without the education where some make their own liquids.
 
That's one, although a diagnosis of lung (or other) cancer can do it too. Personally, I decided that £2.50 for 20 B&H was too much after a budget some years back so I stopped from that moment. Could still go for a ciggie when I'm drinking, even now, nearly 30 years later!
