Has anyone on here either used or own a Vanguard VEO travel tripod?

They seem to be similar price to the Manfrotto BeFree and just as compact. Tried a forum search but all I can find is one archived sales post!

Hi Ian, did you order one, if so whats your views on it as I have just watched a video and they do seem to be just like the BeFree so ordered one myself.

Had a brief look at some yesterday, certainly seem very well made, feels nice and solid. I have a befree like it, but I think the vanguards feel better built, if a little heavier maybe.

I now have the Vanguard, cracking tripod for the money, ok its not a studio tripod but as a backpack tripod it really is excellent quality, very sturdy. even with my 700D battery grip and 70-300vc Tamron, well worth the money, I have left the camera on at an acute angle overnight to see if there is any slight creep and its rock solid, very nice head.

Which head did you get with it?

The 45 if you go for the 50 its another £40 and the 45 is a great ball head

Having just the one adjustment knob on the head makes setting up lightning fast, I really cant fault this thing.

Having a serious look at this myself. Was leaning towards the primaphoto travel large, but it is hard to find anything out on it really. The vanguard Veo204AB with 45 head is on offer for £70 at mifsuds so VERY tempting, especially given they are an established name.

Having used my Veo 204b in the wild, I wouldn't go for anything else now, very stable little tripod, even at maximum extension, once the camera is on top giving it some weight, it just works, cracking bit of kit wish I had seen it at that price though, I paid nearly 100 quid for mine.......... well the missus did as its my birthday present.

I ended up getting some used "like new" Giottos Vgrn9255 legs from mpb - I have a spare Giottos head which I can use with them. If for whatever reason they are not suitable, it sounds like the Veo is "the one". Yeah, it's a cracking price. The flip locks put me off though as I find them a pain to clean and I spend a lot of time on beaches. Still half tempted, but can't really justify 2 travel tripods for what is just a fairly occasional hobby! Had I saw you post before though, I'd have probably just ordered the Veo despite being a bit on the short side.
