hi all

I am doing my first wedding in a couple of weeks, and I have managed to talk my boss into letting me take the works DSLR ( a dynax 7d) as back up camera.

So, just to be safe I am going to add it onto my camera insurance but what new model would you equate it with for valuing reasons.

He bought the camera second hand about 2 years ago for £600, and I have seen that the A200 for less than £300, would that be the equivilent(sp) ??

Firstly, as you don't own the camera it will only be covered under your own insurance if you have a legal obligation while it's in your care. I simple letter stating this from your boss/work will cover that bit. Secondly, do you need to add it to your insurance? Will it not fit in the total sums insured? Thirdly, when looking to replace a model that is no longer available, insurers will try to replace with the same make and with a similar feature set. A Sony would be the natural choice and typically the base model will be of a similar, if not higher, standard than models of yesteryear.

the base model of sony is the A100 which was based on the Dynax 5D (quite a lesser camera).

it wont fit into the total amount insured because i am right on the border of the next stage, Plus with my camera insurer, they have to take the serial numbers off all the equipment before they are covered, it is dedicated camera insurance ,not just general insurance.

probably just best to give the insureres a ring and see what they say i guess

done it, they wouldnt put it on for just one day, but to have it insured until the end of my policy (quoting the A200 as its replacement ) cost £13

its mad how the prices have come down isnt it
