Can you explain the black mark on the photo on post 45 above her head on the wall of the house? How many other of the images had marks on them - film problem???

You say you explain it is the same arch but do not answer the point about the missing curtain rail or this this being held up by some force or was it taken down...Also look at floor which is 'wood' in the picture with the guests but in the arch picture seems to be different on the other side of the curtain where the picture is taken...

Hi,
1] The 'mark' is part of the hat, that's how hats were, when this was taken, a few years ago. [Ask a hat seller!]
2] The original pic shows same arch as the one taken recently with red curtain, but shot from the room on the other side, ie. through the archway.
3] Floor I'm sure is correct but is tricky to compare due to the lighting variations.

An interesting thread. To me, in the photograph of this lady with her husband the hat does not reach as far above his head as it does in the group photograph, which is a little strange, plus as others have mentioned it appears a little larger than it should be, given the proportions of the husbands head to relate to in both shots. Is there any chance that this could be a combination of two shots? Ive had this happen to me once, but it was very obvious on my negative that it was one shot overlaying another. I think it is just human nature to seek out a rational explanation.

Hi,
Differing hat/head sizes are due to a sort of optical illusion I think, because of my elevated view point on the line-up shot. [I was standing on a chair].
I certainly agree that it is only natural to seek a rational reason for the loss of the MIL.
Trust me I will continue to try to get to the bottom of it! :bonk:
