UV or Skylight fliter

I've just bought a 100-400L and was wondering which filter would be better to fit, either a UV or Skylight. I have always fitted skylight (1A) filters to my lens, but just thought I'd ask the question.

Not sure if it'll make a difference to your answers but i'll be using the lens for BSB, WSB & MotoGP meetings.

Providing that you buy a good quality one then it'll make little or no difference. The sensor is pretty much immune to UV and only 3-4% gets through.

I use Marumi lens protect filters on my lenses.
