Can I ask what you want to use uv lighting for. BTW I think most dslrs have a uv filter so you would need a modded camera wouldn't you?

I think everything will depend on the wavelength, I used to use uv light in a DNA lab but that freq will give you a sunburn real quick. The camera had a special filter fitted and we could photograph material which fluoresced under uv light.

its Black uv backlight same as in a nightclub, give the models a lick of uv paint and there you go. And yes take my uv filter off lol.

Ohh I see. Never tried that myself. Not sure how you would go with a light meter, I would just chimp it anyway ;)

UV filter shouldn't make a difference anyway as I think sensors have UV blocking coatings on them (could be wrong about that though). The light you see from the paint is in the visible part of the spectrum. The UV light is used to make the fluorescent paint emit light which we can see. So what you are looking at is normal visible light, but the paint is the light source, which is why it seems bright in a room which is dark to our eyes, but there's lots of 'invisible' UV light.

Random not so interesting fact: You're eyes are tricked by this everyday, many washing powders have UV dyes in to help make the whites look whiter!

I think you are talking about Ultraviolet fluorescence photography, invisible UV makes the object fluoresce in the visible spectrum. search on google or ebay gives lots of results for uv fluorescence items. I think reptile keepers use uv light sources.

They are different wavelengths. 'Black lights' are lower energy wavelengths.
