At the amount of people who dont like Branston Pickle!

I had a load of friends and family over around crimbo, and I was making an afternoon snack, and I offered a snack to those around the table of a sandwich consisting of ham, cheese and pickle and I was met with looks of disdain and many shaking heads....

Seriously, what is this world coming to!

I can understand people bieng on the fence on marmite, I can also understand disgust at such putrid filth like "sandwich spread" and "picallily" but good old british branston!

And... to make matters worse, it was the generic favourite that is small chunk.

Honestly, good ol blighty is going to pot :'(

I Lurvvveee Branston Pickle  I can eat it neat out the jar :D

Oh how I miss the days when my mum would make me cheese & branston pickle sandwiches for my packed lunch at school. ;)

On the fence on marmite? Kill it kill it KILL IT!!!

No I like HP, however after having it the other day I might actually prefer Daddies as its spicier.

no no no no no no no no no.... just no

Oh hell yeah, in fact I am just about to make another now but with added ham of course :D

You are correct James, Branston Pickle is a splendid accessory, as is HP Sauce and Piccalili! :)

Yup, spread so thickly it'll burn the skin off the roof of your mouth

Personally prefer the thinly spread variety on a piece of hot buttered brown toast. Not only is it good eaten like that but it can also be used a base for Beans on Toast.

It can also be a good foundation upon which to lay bricks for a new house build. ;)

hmmm interesting idea... I once tried to use it as a base for cheese on toast, but when the cheese melted I ended up with a brown smeary mess on toast, and it really wasnt pleasant

I did like it, until my mother in law plastered it all over a roast dinner once
:puke:

Put me off it for life.............

ROFLMAO this thread got me bustin me sides... you can't beat cheese and pickle with some thick doorsteps / baguette.
Now.....pineapple and cheese on sticks now thats just dirty yuck !
Same with Pizza, pineapple on a pizza ? "you don't put fruit on a pizza" LOL

Cheddar-Cheese sarnies without Branston are wrong.
Plain cheese is wrong...
It's un-Englishness at its very worst...

I love Branston Pickle, can't stand HP sauce though :gag:

Tesco were doing the huge jars of Branston for a quid last week too

Eeeeeerrrrrggghhhhh !!!

Cheese and Branston sandwiches
Cold turkey with Branston and pickles on boxing day
Branston on toast with some nice crispy fried black pudding
Love the stuff

But on a roast dinner?
That's just plain wrong. . . although I do have a South African friend who always puts a clump of mayonnaise on roast dinners which is even worse :gag:

And if you want to talk about truly evil foods, what about bananas?
Totally, totally vile :puke:

mmmmm bananas! :D

yucky foods are sprouts, string beans and lamb. Almost anything else I eat :D though it's been a long time since I had a curry, hubby can't bear the smell of it and it makes him gag for days (and I'd be somewhat deprived of summit if I ate curry )

Oh this is so unfair. There I was twiddling away at the 'pooter quite happily and someone had to go and mention the B word. Now my (fair sized) gut is rumbling like a freight train.
Cruel, very cruel...... now I'm going to have to finish of that home cooked honey roast ham with a lump of cheese and at least half a jar of Branston......
