Using the D70 in the rain...

Noticing today (in Leeds at least) that the weather is on the turn, can anyone recommend a water proofing cover so I could take my camera out and about in the rain?
 
A pack of cheap clear plastic shower caps and a few rubber bands will proect your camera far better than you'd think it would.. for cheap accessories, it's up there with the Rizla fagpaper flash diffuser...

Alternately, you can head over to sites like warehouse express and marvel at the price of dedicated camera raincovers... don't get me wrong, the 'anorak for your lens' looks very sporting-pro, but I'm not sure it's worth £90..

Or, if you've a long lens, one of those stupid umbrellas-on-a-hairband can be adapted to protect your lens. Maybe £90 isn't so bad, after all...

I have both sizes of Scoff's covers and they cover just about every eventuality for me.
 
I bought an appropriate-sized rucksack dry-bag from my local outdoor shop, made a lens-hood size hole in the bottom, and hey presto. £7.99 it cost me. Looks like the £40 one Chris had at the rally at the weekend...
 
Tesco do a nice line in camera protectors - they come free with the weekly shopping :D

You can also get OP/tech rainsleeves for about £6.00 for a pack of two
 
Yup - carrier bag and sellotape
 
Get a large transparent carrier bag and put the camera in it like so:

Then you can see all the controls and the LCD screen and the cam stays dry.

Do you need to wear the hoody as well, or is that optional?
 
Only if its raining, though you'd probably go all out and get a nice brolly wouldnt you :D

Tried that at Knockhill ("golf" brolly stuck down jacket front) but it nearly got me lynched as it tends to be at just the right height to poke people in the eye :bonk:
 
Clear plastic bag.

I then put a small bit of tape on the bag to stop it ripping and cut a square hole in the tape.

Next remove the eyepiece, put bag on, refit the eyepiece.
