How do I set it up?

Select the cable with the N3 end.

Place the yongnuo 3 pin end into the receiver and connect the N3 into the 40D

Switch on the 602 rx and tx to the same channel and you’re sorted.

That'd be why I can't figure it out then. There doesn't appear to be an N3 end in my kit.:bonk:

id be interested in your thoughts/ trials when you get this working as im teetering on the edge of shall i shant i buy this set-up for my 40d.

Also has the avantage of using it on the flash as well if i dont want remote shutter release.

So far it seems much better than the old pt-04's I was using. Much better build quality. I'm planning on having a play soon and will report back.

RF-602 is designed primarily as a flash trigger. It's just that it doubles as a camera remote with the right cable (which is camera-specific).

FlashInThePan sells another little jobbie for remote camera release. I think it might have more range too, as it's got a built in aerial.

according to my pm not any more he doesnt he recommends the 602 now hence me wavering between the 602 and a cheeper remote shutter of ebay

Stupid question alert - what does the "N3 end" Look like, and where does it plug into the camera?

Dean don't build your hopes up but my kit came with some different leads and if I have the right one you're welcome to one mate. Having said that I doubt I have the right one 'cos life is never that simple is it? :D

Thanks, mate. My kit came with lots of leads, but the N3 is the one with three little holes in on both ends. Got that??

Also just found out an old Hanimax flashgun I had knocking around that I couldn't get to work on the pt-04 works great with this trigger. Great news! Now I have four flashes to play with. :D

I'll have a look in my kit bag when I get home, but I'm pretty sure that I don't have one of those. :'(

See - told you life is never simple.

If you're really keen on remote/wireless shutter release I know you can get a battery grip with the function built in. I found this out just after I bought mine (ie, without it :bang:)

N3 connection.

Did you not get one in the kit? There should be two cables.

Nope. I knowwhat it should look like as I have a cable release. :(

Ta, I'll look into getting one. It's for self portraits really.

Perhaps you have a pc cable instead?

I might have a spare one.

I got a pc cable and a big fat jack cable, Jim. A spare would be super. :) :woot:

Thank god it's not just me with problems.

I bought mine off ebay and can't get it to work on the flashgun (even though it said it would work with the Sigma 530) (not the super). I can't get it to work as a trigger release too. I only received two cables when the picture in the listing had three. I've emailed the seller who now has a problem sourcing the missing cable.

Grrrrr

the other end is a yougnuo 3 pin

where did you get yours from Dean ? did u say u wanted a cable for a 40d when u ordered ? just curious as im loosing confidence in this

I bought them from the bay. TBH, I didn't even think about specifying as the shutter release was an afterthought. I bought them primarily to fire my flashes.

ah i see many thanks . thats swaying me back towards getting a set. Im after mainly shutter release but the fact they do flash trigger as well is a bonus and something i will probably end up using more .
Think I may just bite the bullet and get some from graham, but have to hide them from the wife as ive spent lots this month on camera gear :):)

hello
have you managed to get thissorted yet ? Just interested in your views

FITP has them, but I've not bought one yet as it's become less cruccial right now. They work great as triggers though. :~)

GAZZA - for £16 you can't go wrong with Flash-in-the-Pan kits. I have just go tmine through him, to fire one of the D3s remotely., I didn't realise it doubled as a flash trigger, I bought it purely to fire the camera remotely (like mounted on the bike while I am riding it, on the bow of a powerboat during racing.....that kind of thing. I did a hang glider years ago with an F4s and 18mm - the pilot hated it but the pictures come the end looked brilliant. The ground ina swirl of and the glider and pilot pin sharp in the middle - I got him to fly the thing in a tight, banking turn and used about a 1/4 sec and 1/2 sec shutters.....kept ringing the changes. Nearly killed him with all that weight on the wing tip (counterbalanced with dead weight on the other one!) but worked atreat.

To my mind, at £16, if I only get ONE shot out f it, it will have paid for itself. Brillaint for th emoney - I doubt they cables will like water or salt mind - so use plenty of vaseline around the electrical contacts and joints.

Where do you get them for £16?

There seems to be some confusion about the trigger leads and some kits appear to come inclusive of the lead and some without. This seems to vary according to the supplier/source when purchased.

http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.602

These come with the mini jack lead and the adapter for the larger jack and also the remote trigger lead that fits the camera.

Careful selection is required when choosing the set that matches your camera make/model.

They work out about £18 ish delivered depending on method of payment and exchange rate. Delivery is about 10-15 days.

Hope this helps. :)
