I bought myself Photoshop Elements 8 today. It's the first time I have used it with RAW files.
Do I use it the same as I did when I was just editing JPEG's? I am presuming I do...it's jsut when I opened a CR2 file, it was very pixelly compared to when I opened a JPEG. Is this just because there is a lot more info in a RAW file?

Also...if I don't use the Organiser part of Elements, am I wasting a lot of it's use? I normally store my photos on a different program.

I have taken my first lot of photos using my EOS 1000D, and am now trying to figure out where I am with editing etc!!

SHould I be using any of the software that came with the camera??

"How am I opening it"...urm....
i got to "open" click on the file I want to open from my pictures folder, then when it opens in another window, click on open image, or words to that effect.
Pixelly is probably the wrong word..but it just doesn't look clean...the picture is in focus, so it's not because of that...
you know if you zoom in on a picture, you lose detail...it's almost like that, just not quite!

If the pic is a raw file it should have opened in Adobe camera raw I think

This is it opening in the raw converter window where you should be making adjustments to get the best possible image.

" click on open image, or words to that effect.

This it opening in the standard image editor where any further fine tuning adjustments should be made if required.

If you are going straight to the editor without making adjustments in the Raw window then its not suprising you are not getting pleasing results.

A good many do not use the organzer part of it (as it not the best out there for cataloguing) and prefere there own program so nothing wrong there.:)

I have been making adjustments in the RAW window first, then more editing in the PSE window if needed. After a bit more playing, I think I have sussed it! These things are always harder to start off with!

Is it ok to save the edited RAw file as a JPEG afterwards...?
