as like my other thread, more sony owners asking about live view, so thought i would share a quick example where it was good to use with the F42 external flash.

again just playing with the new camera over these festive periods, took a few pics of my nephew.

pics are straight from the camera, JPG, auto mode.

Found Live View being good, as i rest the camera on the floor to get the shots, low down.

Also using my F42 flash, bouncing the light off the ceiling, but the last pic seems very bright. is this why i see people use a diffuser (i think it's called, the plastic cover over external flash)? if so, which and where from?

Don't know why second pic is brighter than you expected but it's got nothing to do with lack of a diffuser. Diffusers make light less harsh. A side effect is some light drop-off but that's not its purpose.

cool, thanks

Actually i think the second shot is better exposed. The first one looks under exposed to me. Try looking at the camera data for each shot to see what the differences are. That may shed some light.

ah thanks

both 1/60, f5.6, iso400

think i just have to get use to setting the angle of the flash a little more
