Should have posted the exif so we know what settings you ended up using ;-)

Bloody hell sorry, used to always post from Flickr.
Settings ISO 10,000 1/800th @f2.8.
Metering - pattern.
Header is the same except 1/1000th NR settings Lum 10, Detail 50. SHARPENING 74, Radius 1.2 Detail 25, Masking 70

Blimey!
Snapzz at the moment I'm not shooting for the papers, but as I'm still learning wanted to pick the brains of the people that are. I have gone down to 1/640th to keep the iOS down, but at some of the grounds I'm shooting at the lights are dreadful so I'm then up to ISO 10,000 and still only getting 1/640th.
As I say, still learning and just wanted to pick brains.
I think I've improved a lot since getting advice (and constructive kickings) on here.
Maybe I should've worded it " is it acceptable to send shots in with noise"? Lol
Not jpegs for wire SOOC?
Then I would use ISO up to your "noise limit" and then let it underexpose from there. Recover in post. Recovery will add noise, but at least you get to control where/how/how much. And it probably won't be any worse than if you had used a higher ISO (camera dependent).

sk66, sorry yes they were jpeg.

Although I don't wire at the mo. As I know that's what you have to do, I'm trying to get things right from the off.
