I don't know if this should be in equipment, but it's about lighting so it's here.

Anyway, I'm getting really frustrated! I want to use my D80 as a commander for my SB-600, I've checked loads of sites and they all give step-by-step guides how to do it, the only problem is they tell me to go to the 'pencil' menu, and then down to an option I don't have...

On one site they listed about 30 odd options that are in that menu, I only have 10!!

Any help anyone? :bang:

I don't think you can get to the right options in the menu unless you have the flash up either... ;)

Thanks, I was in the short menu :bonk:

Now I've nearly got it sorted... Only problem is the on-camera flash is flashing, despite me setting it to off: '--'

Any ideas from you clever peoples? :D

The flash always flashes, even if you have it set to --, it flashes because this is the way that it communicates with the other flashes, you will see though that when set to -- it doesn't actually contribute to the end image so although the flash flashes it doesn't actually contribute to the image

Oh Yes indeed... I thought my d300 was faulty when it seemed to be flashing when I had it turned off. Glad I kept going

you can buy an adapter thing which sits over the on-board flash and stops all but the IR light passing through. Can't remember the part code off the top of my head though.
