Edit My Images
Yes
For speed I often do this - use my fuji finepix digital camera to photograph a document or picture using natural light and upload it onto my pc.

One thing though - white paper comes out with a bluish tint on the final image.

Any ideas among the forum contributors as to why this might happen and whether there might be some way I can get the image to appear white like the original paper?

Many thanks

It sounds like you have the camera White Balance set wrong. If the paper is lit by direct sunlight, set the WB to Sun, if it's cloudy set it to cloudy etc.

EDIT:

Or if you download Rawshooter Essentials and take the pics in RAW format, you can adjust the White Balance on your computer to get the paper to look white :)

Use manual white balance on your camera.....

My guess you're doing this indoors and using the 'incoming' light of a window. That carries with it a lot of blue.

Post collision :)

:agree: Or if you go to "Levels" adjustments & use the eyedroppers to choose the tones you need - the lightest eyedropper symbol for the whites & the darkest for the text itself. Not sure if this would degrade image detail to much of an extent though, depends on how fine the text was (as a last resort though, Ewan & Barry have already offered the best suggestion)

Wow thanks for such a swift response guys, and for the suggestions, which I will try out.

... that is exactly what I am doing - thanks for explaining why it's causing the problem.
