This is the worse behaviour. So it's get the old car moved, park there, car dashcam set to motion detect with external cctv recording the car and let him do this again. Then thats criminal damage.

Of course, has anyone tried speaking rationally to the neighbour? It might just be an old classic car he's wanting to do up.

Surely if it is on dodgy plates then the notice to move would go elsewhere? Just saying....

Yes it would go to the registered owner, who would be asked to move the car if it wasnt at their home address.

Which would hopefully set some alarm bells ringing and perhaps trigger further enquiries...

Anyway this car looked a bit suspicious to be its a wreck and hasn't moved in a very long time. I put the reg in to the gov website to check it had mot. It shows up as a completly different car. It looks like he's using another cars reg to avoid tax, insuring and mot-ing the car.

If we report him what would be the consequences for him legally?

If the number plates don't tie up with the vehicle they are displayed on, then that is an offence even if the vehicle they belong to is legit.
It's an offence which can result in a fine of up to £1000, just report it to the police or at least have a chat with them, they will advise
what action can be taken or act upon it themselves

He already said it was on a different cars plates so it won't be the registered owners car.
 
The guy in question sounds like one of those people in life who do stuff because they know those around them are too scared to confront/report so gets away with it. With this in mind, I'd have no issue in reporting him!!

I had a similar argument with someone recently for parking legally on the road outside his house. He said I'm sick to death of people doing it etc, and anyway what happens if I have visitors?! Oh so it's ok for you, I said, but not me?! Pot kettle!

Or report it to the council as an abandoned vehicle, or of course both avenues will double the chances of it getting removed.
 
Phone the local scrap merchant, they may take to for free!

I stripped every mechanical component, the trim and all the glass from my Imp after the floor rusted through with huge holes in multiple places, then took and angle grinder to the body, stuffed it in the back of the van piece by piece and weighed it in for scrap at the local branch of Sims, then sent the V5C to the DVLA with "Permenantly scrapped" written across it in thick black marker as there's no longer a box to tick on the document. The money I got for 220kg of "light iron" just about covered the cost of the discs for the angle grinder.

Was quite time consuming, but simple.

Congratulations. Most people have no issue doing it the correct way and getting the certificate of destruction from a licenced facility.
But, whatever amuses you.....
