Just a couple of quick questions...

Can I use my ex420 speed light (off the camera on a stand) with my lencarta smartflash 200's?

and if I can

How can I trigger it? I've got a remote trigger that already sits on the camera hot shoe and then the receiver is plugged in to one of the smartflash's, will the speedlight fire automatically like the other smartflash's I have set up at the time or do I need to do something else?

Thanks in advance :)

No, but if you connect the trigger/receiver to the Canon, the Lencartas will fire off that - assuming it's a suitable trigger with a hot-shoe connection.

Great thanks, don't know why that didn't occur to me! Thanks again :)

But remember its full power only, and has a shocking recycle time. It'll really mess with your workflow if you're used to working to the Lencarta recycle time.

If you really want to add a speed light to the mix, I'd suggest a cheap variable power gun, much easier to work with.

Ah ok. I probably won't use it often to be honest as I have 3 lencarta lights anyway, will probably just use it to have a practice on 4 light setups and see what I think of the results before spending the money on another lencarta light. Just needed to know if it would work.

Thanks phil :)

That's cool then, it'll work, but it's not what I'd call 'workable' :).
