Just wondering which people would choose out of these cameras(both with standard kit lens)? I've narrowed my choice down to these, but theres so many opinions on each. I intend to be shooting landscapes, wildlife, and buildings(although I plan on photographing pretty much anything!) I just cant decide between the them(money is a bit of a factor!). Please help!

Go for the Sony, :D cracking camera!!

i'd say the sony 200 as it's a cracking camera, but also because the 300D is old(relatively)technology, but to be fair,i've never used a 300D.both have a lot going for them though, with canons catalouge of accessories especially lens, but although sony's range of lens cannot compare to canon's...there's a lot of konica minolta lens that work perfectly on the sony,as they use the same mount.i'd say go to a camera shop and see how they feel in the hand, menu's etc etc...as a camera has to feel right to that person, else you might not want to use it...

good luck

Avoid the 300D, whilst they are serviceable cameras they feel VERY cheap and the screens are pretty dreadful.

The Sony doesn't feel that well built compared to the Nikon D60, but it's still a more advanced camera than the 300D, so if you can't run to the D60 (with the pretty amazing 18-55mm VR kit lens) then I'd have no hesitation in recommending the Sony.

Your other option is used, you could pick up a helluva setup for what a new a200 would cost if you were to consider going used.

Cheers,
James

the sony is a very good camera for its price! and always seems to get good reviews! i have one, and very happy with it! just need to get a good lens for on front of it!

Can I put in a word for the 350D? I've had mine 3 years now and have given it quite a range of subjects to cope with.I've had some cracking results with it and am in no hurry to upgrade to anything else. I've taken almost 8000 shots with it and have never had any trouble with it whatsoever.

However... the only downside I would see of buying second hand is that you don't know how the camera has been treated by it's previous owner:shrug:

I will back that up in support of the 350D mine has given a faultless performance over the past 2 years, the only downside is that it gets very noisy at 1600.
It is also way cheaper than the Sony if you are not bothered about all the latest features

If your on a budget go second hand it's the only way if you ask me. Plenty of bargains available from people with deep pockets and bad cases of upgradeitus!

Starting to grow out of it now I feel but the price these are going for second hand Id rather just hold onto it after I upgrade!
