Yes
I purchased a USB3 card reader and all was well until recently when it intermittently failed to be detected by the PC.

I found that it I wiggled the special to type lead supplied by Lexar, that it would work if I kept hold of the lead in a certain position.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues with the USB3 Lexar Dual-Slot card reader?

True, Its a really poorly designed socket and plug arrangement. Just wanted to see if anyone else had similar experiences with the same model.

Yes, had that for a wee while but really jammed the lead into the back of the reader a couple of weeks ago, so far so good!

No issues along those lines.

I find it doesn't particularly work well with windows 8. Card reader Firmware has been updated.

Photos seem to take an age to download onto Lightroom 5 and for it to detect a card reader. Not sure if that is a Lightroom problem or Windows? My laptop has USB 3.0 ports.

I certainly doubt it, as " it would work if I kept hold of the lead in a certain position"! :D

Mine has once had the plug getting loose. Haven't had it since, despite I open and close the box every time, it's in use.

Blistering fast reader! And btw. don't forget to check for firmware update: http://www.lexar.com/downloads

I've had exactly the same trouble with mine & so have a couple of mates.
Normally with a bit of unplugging & pluggin back in I could get it to work until a week or so ago when the pc just couldn't see it no matter what (I'm running windows 7).

I tried a spare lead from an external hard drive I had & it's worked ok since.

Stew.

I was replying to markta's posting, not to the thread starter :)

Now it makes sense!

Sorry for thinking, you'd lost it! :D

If you plug in the card, an explorer window should turn up? Try copy card from here - fast or slow?

Thanks guys, Its dfinitely a fault with the plug or the socket on the reverse of the reader. Its a non standard socket and its the flimsiest Ive ever come across.

I think Ill return it as Ive only had it a few months.

Cheers

I have the same reader and problem, if I unplug and re plug the reader the computer detects it, I have the FireWire reader before this and had connection issues, Lexmark gave me a USB 2.0 dual reader which works flawlessly. Just wish the 3.0 was as good
