usb wifi help

i have a seneye device for tropical fish tank now im a little stumped to how i can get it to work as it is cloud device of some sort

got this free in a mag subscription its worth £70 the mag was only £45 for the year

now im guessing i dont have to use there devices ie belkin

i have a apple airport device that does the same thing with a use port and isa wifi device


so can i use my apple wifi device and connect it to the seneye device and once set up will send it to the cloud so i can read the readings

I don't think your Airport device is the same thing.....

The Belkin converts USB to Wifi, so becomes more like a WiFi device, almost exactly like a wireless NAS (network attached storage).

The Airport if more like a WiFi hub type affair. It's hard to describe because Apple have the Apple way of doing things, it's more like a Wifi access point, the USB port can be used for a printer or remote control (I assume for iTunes).

Because Apple do their "timecapsule" NAS device, I can't see them under cutting their profits by allowing the Airport to work with external storage devices (the seneye seems to act like external storage).

Does it need to be wireless? Ethernet USB device servers are MUCH cheaper.

the belkin appears to be a wifi to USB peripheral sharing device, I think the airport only does usb storage devices?

but from the senseye page it looks like you need a computer in the equation, doesn't look like you can have it straight to the internet.

The impression I got is that it works as a storage device, holding log files, which I assume are then accessed and translated by software or a phone/tablet app.

But i'm pretty sure Apple wouldn't allow the Airport to be used effectively as NAS device, when they sell a standalone NAS device anyway.

The Belkin thing looks like a USB device server, which would be effective for DIY NAS, Samba and by the look of it printers/scanners.

Thing is, because of my home network setup it's not something i've ever needed to look into.
