Hi Guys,

I'm after a bit of advice.

I'm moving into a shared office where the wireless internet is a bit sketchy so want to be able to plug into the wired internet.

I currently dock my Macbook pro into a vertical henge dock which has two thunderbolt connectors (Which I connect to two screens), and a single USB connector. I have this connected to a 7 port USB hub as I have lots of hard drives and other things connected.

My question is: Will a USB to ethernet adapter work if I plug this into the hub, or will this need to be plugged directly into the laptop, in which case how can I then connect all of my USB devices up if the port is taken by the ethernet adapter.

Hope this all makes sense and someone has an answer for me.

If it won't work can you not just add a cheap wireless access point to the Ethernet point (changing the default SSID, password, wireless channel etc to avoid clashing with anything else in place and maintain security).

I guess it should work? At least my old dell precision i used to add the USB ethernet adapter to the dell USB3 display link dock occasionally for testing.

USB3 is theoretically capable of 5gbps so should be enough to run a gig lan and other stuff through a USB3 hub?
