USB Microscope

Has anyone used a USB Microscope for macro work. They're very cheap (£40-£50)

VEHO USB Microscope

Last xmas I bought one of those for my son. When it works it's fun gadget but:

- the image quality isn't that great (v cheap optics, plus only 1.3 megapixels for the one I bought)
- the software is buggy, resulting in the scope only working for a few minutes before having to reboot. I've not found an updated driver to try to see if that's resolved (that's on both Windows XP and Windows 7)

Its a shame the resolution is so bad, if I could mount my 7D to it I'd order without hesitation. but 30 quid for blurry small photos... Id have to pass I think.

I know you can mount SLR's on telescopes, can you do the same on good, reasonably priced microscopes?

Mmm...Thanks for the comments. As I suspected: cheap and fairly nasty.

A couple of years ago, I got a cheapish microscope from Lidl. Works fine as a microscope and has a USB camera in the box. Not super high resolution but high enough for fun use. Software works fine and is stable on the lappy it's installed on. IIRC, the 'scope is branded Bresser.
