Yes
A USB hub needed which has consistently scored high reviews please. There are some on a High St site which seem to be very poor for the money.

Anker USB hubs are really good. Depending on what you want (usb 3, high powered mobile charging etc) they cater for a good range. And look decent too.

I have a powered USB 3 hub from Maplins which has worked perfectly for over a year, I didn't read any revues just walked into their Harlow branch and bought it when I needed it.

It's to allow a mouse and monitor to run from a Surface Pro 2. I know very little about these things, surely there is an adapter of some sort which doesn't need to be powered.

you can connect 175 usb's to one port without powering them! thats for standard usb devices however, and not things like iPad chargers.
Gremlin is right there are plenty of simple connectors available try computer resellers to see whats they have rather than revue sites.

There is a limit to how much power a USB port can supply, and it's unlikely to be enough for 175 devices!

Why not have a look on microsoft's web site to see what they recommend, or contact their customer support to get a specification you can use to match a suitable hub?

Sorry, I got the maths slightly wrong.

Fact: Most support a four-port hub system, but hubs using 16-port hub controllers are also available in the industry. USB hubs could be cascaded up to sevenlevels deep, however maximum number of user devices is reduced by number of hubs. With 50 hubs attached, the maximum number is 127 − 50 = 77.

Google it, its mind boggling. Like I said, it depends on what's plugged in of course :)
