I've just bought a Google Wifi but have found that the AC Adapter cable is a little to short so I would like to extend it by around 500mm.

No worries I thought, I just jump on amazon and see what's available. It seems that USB-C is a bit of a minefield with them being not so universal afterall :(

Does anybody have any recommendations on what might work. The cable that plugs into the Google Wifi puck is a standard looking USB-C connector. The AC Adapter is 15V. I'm just wanting around 500mm to 1000mm extension with a male connector on one end and a female on the other.

USB voltage is usually (? by specification ?} 5V rather than 15 so maybe the connector is a bit different from a USB C type. Personally, I'd use a short mains extender.

USB -C voltage is a standard so just look at buying a replacement charger with a longer connection lead.

Cut and shut the cable.

USB-C does seem pretty baffling at times, I can't seem to get my head round it either! We have LG 4k & 5k monitors in our office. They both have identical looking connections and cables, but the 4k uses USB-C, whereas the 5k uses Thunderbolt 3 (with is supposed to be backwards compatible with USB-C). Strangely, the USB-C cables work just fine on the 5k devices, but the opposite isn't true - which is weird since it's supposed to be lower bandwidth. The cables look identical too!

I believe there is a standard for USB-C Power - my laptop (MacBook Pro) uses a USB-C charger for example. I'd guess a cable for this would do the trick and if you know someone with such a laptop, perhaps you could try before you buy?
