I know this guy who is selling a L-358 and was wondering if anyone know how to work out the shipping costs at all? Whether it would be cheaper to get it from there or try and find one in the UK at a nice price.

Without knowing the price/condition/weight, there's not a lot we can do to help you there. (Assuming it's a Sekonic meter?)
 
I've always used United States Postal Service

And don't forget Vat/Import duties-although it's a bit of a lottery-sometimes they collect/sometimes not

NB I've got a L-358 and it weighs just over 200G in it's soft case.

Using First Class Mail International would be around $8.80 (withput insurance)
