I'm stuck between these two images. What do you guys think?.

The second one has far more 'character' than the first, which looks suspiciously like some idiot posing with a yellow umbrella and trying to be cool, but achieving the exact opposite...

Hi Scott,

This is purely my amateurish opinion. No.1 does nothing for me..don't know who the chap is, purely a politician standing in the rain. I don't know (or can't see) the link to the location neither.

Thus, I would go for no.2. Here I can see a relationship between the primary focus and the other two..I presume again fellow politicians?

Fiddle / Politicians comes to mind!! Like it.

Second for me

second on here.

But from your other stuff the one I liked the best was Al Sal playing the fiddle.

Tony

Isn't the wumman in the middle Elaine C Smith? (Crazy Lady but very down to earth and fun)

The Salmond fiddle one is the only gallery on there I can't use! Has to be taken before 16th!

2nd one definitely. Wife just walked up behind me and said the second one also straight away! lol

1st one looks like he's posing for someone else's shot... so has to be the second one by default, but I don't like the aperture on the second one much either as the other two people are also looking at you (if they were looking elsewhere perhaps?) but you've just got it wrong. It might work better if I could see the caption - if it was bloke on right wins election, other two are loosers, perhaps it works?

Just my humble two roubles worth.

What are the criteria of the competition? Being brutally honest, I don't think there is anything interesting about either of them. The may technically be well lit/composed/etc, but the first is just a bloke with an umbrella, and the second is three people with little context (at least, that is apparent to me).

Not saying they are bad pictures, but I don't see what could be at all award winning about them.

The focus (no pun intended) of the event was 'Ask Alex' - members of the public ask Alex Salmond questions.
