Beginner Urgent help needed

My daughter (typical Teenager) has her GCSE photogrphy course tomorrow and her camera is out of charge and in the flea pit that is her room she cannot find the charger

Does a 40d charge through a usb cable plugged into the camera???

Colleges have tons of photography gear. Tell her to take the 7d as back up and ask to borrow some batteries for her own 40d. Might not look to good showing up with no batteries but she might be more comfortable using her own camera.
