Not sure if this is the correct part of the forum but here goes.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any Urban Exploration groups based around SE London area?

When I lived in Leeds (before I got into photography) a friend of mine was really into it and was part of a group and some of the shots he showed me were amazing so I would like to look into this myself.

Also, does anyone know of anywhere to explore in my local-ish area (I live in Beckenham)?

I love the idea of urbex also, of there's anyone in south Devon who'd be up for this and giving me a few pointers on the way it'd be cool to hear from you!

I think theres a few on here into ubex, bound to be a load in the London area, check out some of the ubex forums.

Cheers for the replies. Could you possibly point me in the right direction please?

Try here as well http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk
I generally found them a bit friendlier than 28DL but I've not been on either for some time so things may have changed.
Also here for underground stuff http://www.nettleden.com mainly Wiltshire based but some London and other places.
And more underground stuff here too http://www.darkplaces.co.uk
Just be careful - and make sure someone knows where you are and when to expect you back especially when going underground. Get yourself a damned good and reliable torch as well - you'll need at least two to be safe.

There's a load of good forums dedicated to urbex. So do a search and you should find them.

There's also a couple of others that are quite exclusive and are invite only.

A word of advice from me, try derelictplaces first. I've been a member on both for sometime & 28dayslater aren't keen on giving too much information out to new members! They usually like a few reports to show your commited!

You don't need to be a member of one of those groups, go do it yourself or with some friends!

I do a reasonable amount of urban exploring - and I'm a fairly inactive member of 28 days later as well. But to be honest, I have more fun spotting places and taking photos on my own time scale than been with people who have different motives - which is normally to locate certain parts of the building which are hidden, or scale towers etc. (Stuff I love doing, but at my own selfish pace!) I'm in the West of London and there are so many empty beautiful industrial places scattered everywhere, just keep your eyes open and pick one!

Im on 28dl and its my personal fave, people usually only meet up after they have seen a few of your "reports". Mainly a trust thing. Best thing is to sign up and get out there!
