Uploading pics to my computer

I've plugged the Camera into the P.C via USB, it is registering on the computer but when i click on the icon to view the files and save them, there is nothing there, i can view them on my camera though?

Any info? i do not want to loose these, they are from the air show yesterday :\
 
Hi Jay.

Are you using windows or mac?
If windows, Does the camera drive show up as a drive in 'My Computer'?
If Mac - does the camera drive show up in finder?
 
It's windows im using, the camera does show up with the title of the camera (350D) when i click on that icon it opens up but with no pictures in there :\ I've only just got it and yesterday was the first time i used it, do i have a fault? :\

Have you tried using the 'Camera and Scanner' wizard in Control Panel?

For future it may be easier and quicker (in terms of transfer speed) for you to pick yourself up a compact flash card reader - most Tesco's stock the cheap ones or grab one from amazon - that way your memory card will show up in My Computer in the same way a memory stick does so that you can drag and drop them to where you want them :)
 
Just tried that then, it says "the computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please make sure the device is turned on and is properly connected to the computer"

Which one do i download? there is like 15 or so thats come up, with several supporting my system?

x2, it's going to take a while to upload these pics lol I shall be ordering one of them card readers pretty dam soon.
 
Good plan :) - as said you can pick them up on the highstreet too if you needed one today :)
 
Also check the menu on the camera and make sure the communication is set correctly...it may not be set to USB.
 
Aha good point Andy.

You will need the twain driver if you want to do tethered/print/ptp. Also available on the page linked above.

Just checked this and it was on the wrong setting, it now comes up but says the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software
 
yep - install the WIA driver first then plug it in. Did you not get a cd with all this on with the camera?
 
TBH if you are mobile, pop out and buy a card reader and you are good to go!
 
I'm off to work now but i might pop in currys on my way and see if they have one, its not working with all these downloads, getting on my nerves now
 
Go to the Canon website and download the whole suite for the 350D. Its a useful bit of kit and contains some nice apps.
 
Well my memory card reader was delivered today, i have already uploaded the pics (finally) few tweaks i.e border and i'll put a few up in the RIAT thread bearing in mind it was the first time of using a proper camera with no clue how to work half the settings just yet, go easy lol.
