I’m looking to upgrade the RAM in my laptop from 2Gb (2 x 1Gb) to 4Gb (2 x 2Gb) but I have never bought RAM before so I was looking for some advice as to which is the best to buy.

Here is a photo of what there is currently 2 of in my laptop. I guess I would need 2 identical to this but 2Gb each rather than 1Gb each.

Any links or suggestions as to where the best place is to buy from?

I bought my Ram for my macbook from Crucial, they tell you what you can fit in it. I'm sure they do other makes too.

Have a look on their site and see if they can supply you with a kit for yours :)

It's a PC2-5300 SODIMM. Also known as PC2-667MHz SODIMM. You should check on your laptop makers website, yhey shouuld say what the motherboard is capable of having installed. Crucial have a RAM checker (enter make/model and it should tell you wjhat fits)

Just to be different I'll recommend Crucial :) blisteringly fast delivery the times I've used them and as the others have said you're sure to get the right ram for your machine.

The other good thing about Crucial is that they're very price competitive - ie bloody good value.

There's a trend emerging here I think!
