Upgrading from the Canon 18-55 Kit lens

I'm considering an upgrade - can anyone suggest the next step without breaking the bank, similar size and aperture - I'm thinking Sigma or Tamron
Any help would be gratefully received

Depends what you want to shoot best to just put a search on here or just trawl the threads already running you will get a good idea of what you want or would like that way best of luck

in fact i bypassed the kit lens bought the body only and the tamron...
and a very sharp copy i have too

I think the Tamron is generally regarded as better.

I recently bought a sigma 24-70. Love it so far.
