Upgrading A200 to A700

not played with the a700, but having an a300, would like to know what benefits something like an a700 would give me

good and informative video...makes me lust one even more.when you think it was a grand a short while ago...now available for just over £500...bargain

go for it mark....you know you want it

Oh Stan, I want it - how I want it! :D

PC World are doing it for £587 (body only) and Park Cameras (online, so p+p extra) for £559. I think I might pop into PC World tomorrow and see if they can match £559

If not, sod 'em - they've lost a sale

When are you getting yours?

I was in PC world this afternoon, and they had no cameras on display whatsoever....

i can't wait now,but at the latest,it will be on the 18th or 19th of this month from cameraworld in london...but if i can get it nearer for similar money,it will be sooner :woot:

My local PC World has had a refurb and thus they have quite a few DSLRs in stock

Other PC Worlds I've been to (they're my customers, so I visit quite a few) haven't had the refurb yet, and consequently have no room for a display

If I beat you to it, Stan, I'll be sure to gloat! :naughty:

i don't do bluffing mark.....:p

i may even get the grip for it too

Get thee behind me, S(a)tan! :bat::lol:

The grip, eh? I'm not too bothered about that - I just turn the camera 90 degrees, shoot and re-align the image later using Picasa. It's much cheaper ;)

Seriously, I don't like grips. They make the camera look like a square thing with a lens in the middle. Just downright ugly :gag:

i love grips...just feel like i've got something substantial in my hands...:naughty:

mmmmmmmmmmmm.........(homer mode on)A700...A700...A700(homer mode off):cuckoo:

Stan, your double entendre has earned you this:

HOWARD_frankie.jpg

Be the Good Lord willing I'll have mine in my mucky mitts tomorrow. TP will never have seen gloating the like of which it shall see on the morrow. Gird your loins, Stanley - you may be in for a rough ride.........:naughty:

:'( :'( :'(

ah well,i'll just have to console myself with the fact i will already have the 70-200 G to partner my A700 when it doeth arrive...

good likeness by the way...

Had a play with one of these yesterday and i'd have pulled the trigger if I'd had the readies.

However, Digital Depot (where I handled one in person) were by far the cheapest....just in case that info is of any use - I don't think they had any more in stock though :(

Cheers,
James

That's right - rub it in. How on earth am I supposed to compete with a lens like that?! :(

*Hides Sigma lenses*

I think I may have to go on the game to earn some extra sheckels. Now where does my wife keep her stockings........

How much were they, out of interest? :)

I was only interested in a kit price (16-105 I think) and it was £699 if I recall correctly.

Cheers,
James

my wife laughed when i told her i was going on the game....and still is laughing...from 3 months ago!!

I went in in person and they said that they've been cleaned out because of Xmas but are re-ordering Monday.

Worth a phone call if nothing else? I've used DigitalDepot in the past (3 mins from my house...handy) and had nothing but stellar service from them.

Cheers,
James

Certainly worth further investigation

Thanks, mate

No bother - as I say, i'd have been placing the order there and then if I had the readies!

the A700 was a great body from day one & the firmware upgrades (notably v4) were just icing on the cake.
enjoy it when you get it :)

I'm just waiting for the 70-400mm G SSM  to start appearing as I see that the 16-35ZA is now in the wild in Asia.

I'm with fabs on this one lol. 'Tis a great camera lads, and Stan, you'll love the images you can get with the A700 and white beast we have to go on the end of it. Especially in the summer when it's better weather to get out there and enjoy the hobby.

;) No, I've moved and am too lazy to update my profile ;)

Cheers,
James
