Upgrading a Canon 1000d - now or later?

By way of an update I committed to a 50d today.

I deliberated a lot between the 50 and 40 and ultimately decided that the 50 was damned with feint praise as the 40 was so good therefore the 50 is about as good as the XX series will get (the 60d is different).

Exciting times

I've just switched from a Nikon D3100 to the 50D on Sunday Welcome aboard the good ship, i hope you have loads of good times with it

Right got it today and my first impressions are

Not taken any pictures but it feels perfect in the hand - fits like a glove if you will so I'm beginning to understand the comments.

Lord only knows what all the buttons do though

I went from a 450D to a 40D to a D90 and boy the D90 images are awesome! Straight out of the camera i am so impressed!
